MVC with Rollover and Entrapment

On Jan 20, 2022, Sharptown Fire Department was alerted for a MVC. Once on scene, crews found a delivery vehicle on its side, with one person trapped in the vehicle. Firefighters were able to remove the windshield from the vehicle to allow the driver to get out of the vehicle. The driver was transported to a local hospital.

New Ambulance B-14 In Service

On November 18th 2021, the members of the Sharptown Volunteer Fire Department placed the new Ambulance B-14 in service. This addition to the Sharptown Fire Department is the result of months of hard work and countless meetings by the new ambulance committee to make this new ambulance ready to serve Sharptown and the surrounding communities.

The new B-14 is a 2020 Ford F550 PL Custom Type I Classic Ambulance built by PL Customs from New Jersey. It features a power load stretcher system, 4 point provider safety harnesses, Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation for disinfection, and many other safety enhancements. These features are designed to improve safety of our patients and providers, and allow us to improve the service we provide for our community.

Vehicle Fire on Water St

Just after 3PM on September 4th the Sharptown Vol. Fire Department was alerted for a vehicle fire on Water St.  Within 4 minutes of dispatch, Rescue Engine 14 was on scene to extinguish the fire. The situation was place under control within minutes an no one was injured.  Engine Tanker 1402 and Fire police also responded. 

 

Property Damage Accident at the Bypass and Church St

On Thursday, June 17, just after the Company Meeting, Sharptown Fire Department received a call in to the station of a property damage accident with a lot of debris on the roadway at the intersection of Church St and the Bypass. Rescue Engine 14, Engine Tanker 14 and Ambulance A14 responded to the scene. Two patients were evaluated and did not need transport. Units were on scene for approx 30 mins. The scene was turned over to MSP. 

Sharptown assists with MVC with Rescue

At approx. 11:30 on 6/5, Sharptown EMS was alerted to assist Laurel with an MVC with injuries on Sharptown Rd in the area of Shockley Rd. . Shortly after the initial alert the accident was upgraded to a MVC with Rescue, and Sharptown was alerted for the Rescue Engine to assist. Rescue Engine 14 arrived to find a vehicle on its roof with one patient inside and wires on the vehicle. Fire/EMS secured the scene while awaiting the arrival of the power company. once the power company arrived and confirmed the lines were not charged, the patient was able to self extricate from the vehicle.

Sharptown assists Laurel with House Fire

At approx 1pm Sharptown Fire Department was alerted to standby at Laurel Fire Department. Engine Tanker 14 responded with Chief 14 and 4. While enroute, Command requested for them to respond to the scene to assist.

Sharptown Assists Delmar with 2 Alarm Fire

On November 17, Sharptown along with several other companies were alerted to assist Delmar Station 74 with a 2 alarm garage fire. Firefighters were on scene for approximately 3 hours. Photos Courtesy of Chris Lucas.

Sharptown Assist Laurel with Large Field Fire on Sharptown Rd

On October 7th after returning from a standby in Delmar, Sharptown Fire Department was alerted to assist Station 81 Laurel with a large corn field on fire on Sharptown Rd. Crews were on scene for approx. 2 hours. 

Field Fire on Laurel Road

On October 2, at approx 2 PM, Wicomico Central alerted Sharptown and Mardela Fire Departments of a working field fire in the area of Laurel Rd and San Domingo Rd. Crews were on scene for approx. 1 hour.
