Training and Control Burn

On Sunday, November 12, Sharptown Vol. Fire Dept. with the assistance of Eldorado – Brookview Volunteer Fire Company, Mardela Springs Vol. Fire Company and Hebron Volunteer Fire Department conducted a training and control burn of a vacant house. Thanks to everyone that came out and participated.

 

Sharptown assist Mardela with Outside Fire

On August 20 at approx 4:30PM Sharptown Fire Department was alerted to assist Mardela with a outside fire on RT50 in Mardela. ET1402 responded and assisted with extinguishing the fire. Crews were on scene for approx 1.5 hours containing the fire. 

Sharptown Fire Dept assist Federalsburg Fire Department with Commercial Building Fire

On August 14 just before 10 Sharptown Fire Department was alerted to assist Ferderalsburg while they were on a Commercial building fire on Railroad Ave. Shortly after Engine Tanker 14 arrived to the Federalsburg Fire Department, we were requested to the scene to assist.  Stations assisting with the assignment Preston 200, Hurlock 6, Eldorado 26, Seaford 87, Blades 71, Bridgeville 72, Denton 300, East New Market 21, Easton 60, Trappe 30, Cordova 50, Greenwood 78, Cambridge RFC 1. Crews were on scene for several hours containing the fire. 

Sharptown assists Mardela with a house fire on Athol Rd.

On July 22, at approx. 2:30pm, Wicomico Central Alerted, Stations 9 Mardela, 5 Hebron, 14 Sharptown, 12 Westside of a house fire on Athol Rd. Crews arrived to find smoke coming through the eves. Once on scene, Asst. Chief Bowden established command, while Chief 14 took over operations. Crews were able to extricate 2 dogs and Mardela EMS transported them to the Pets ER in Salisbury. Fire crews were on scene for just over an hour.  The Red Cross was called in to assist the family. (Photo Credit: Wayne Barrall Photography)

 

Sharptown assist Mardela with Tractor Trailer fire on Rt 50

On July 18, Sharptown, along with Hebron Fire Dept and Salisbury Fire Dept. were alerted to assist Mardela with a Tractor Trailer fire on Rt. 50. Units were on scene for approx 2.5 hours. 

 

Assist Seaford with Nanticoke Riverfest

On Saturday, July 8th, 2023, members of the Sharptown Vol. Fire department along with many mutual aid companies assisted Seaford Fire Department with the Annual Riverfest Float in. Boats and divers are put in place to ensure that the many participants of the Riverfest float in are able to come out and enjoy the afternoon and safely float down the river.

Training on the Nanticoke for water emergencies

On Saturday May 6th, members of the Sharptown Fire Department conducted a training on underwater search and recovery in the Nanticoke River. Members were able to train and practice search and recovery patterns and surface support for our divers. Divers were able to experience first hand the how murky and dark our rivers are, along with how strong the current is once it is running. While the Divers were training on their search and recovery, other members had a chance to train on boat operation and surface support in Marine 14.
