Sharptown assists Laurel at Mount Pleasant Church

On Sunday, Dec. 23rd, Laurel, Sharptown, Delmar, and Blades Fire Departments were dispatched for a structure fire at Mount Pleasant Church. Quick work by firefighters using the Deck gun knocked majority of the fire out saved the Church from further damage. Minor water damage was sustained in the church, and minimal fire damage done to the structure. Fire Fighters were on scene for approx. 2 hours.

Sharptown assists Mardela Fire Department

Around 11am on January 18, Stations 9 (Mardela), 5 (Hebron), and 14 (Sharptown) were alerted for a building fire at the corner of Main St. and Bridge St in Mardela. Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire coming from the building. Engine Tanker 1402 and Engine 1404 both responded to assist.  A draft was setup at the boat ramp in Mardela. Additional crews were called in from Delmar and Linkwood. Blades was called for a cover-up in Sharptown and was called to the scene to assist. Crews were on scene for appoximately 3 hours. The fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshals office.

Structure Fire – Fourth St.

At 0251 Hours on Dec 5, 2011, Sharptown Fire Department, along with Station 81 Laurel and Station 9 Mardela were alerted for a structure fire at 708 Fourth Street. Crews arrived to find a garage fully involved with multiple exposures.  The situation was placed under control at 0306 hours and all units cleared at 0553 Hours.  The fire marshalls office was called and the home next to the blaze suffered heavy damage to the siding. Training on Truck 14

On October 30, 2011, members participated in training for the new Truck 14. This training consisted of each member being able to climb the 101′ ladder fully extended, then into the bucket and finally back down the ladder. This training will allow the members to continue with their education on the truck. All members that would like to be cleared to ride the truck must complete this training. Sharptown Fire Dept. provides a standby for Delmar’s Annual Dinner
