A meeting held not only started the groundwork for the Sharptown Fire Department, but also marked the beginning of the Wicomico County Firemans Association with J.P. Cooper being elected treasurer of the Association.<\/p>\n<p><strong>April 16,1926<\/strong><br \/>\nIncorporation papers filed with Sate of Maryland by Joseph P. Cooper, Howard S. Bennett, and Purnell T. White.<\/p>\n<p><strong>May 1926<\/strong><br \/>\nFire Company begins drive to secure funds for purchase of a Fire Engine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>June 23,1926<\/strong><br \/>\nFirst recorded meeting held with the following officers.<\/p>\n<p>Officers Elected<\/p>\n<p>President &#8211; W.D. Mrs Molly Eskridge wins first car raffled at carnival.<\/p>\n<p><strong>November 27, 1926 <\/strong><br \/>\nOriginal Fire Station property purchased from Marvil Package Company.<\/p>\n<p><strong>November 27, 1926<\/strong><br \/>\n$1,197.78 borrowed to pay on Reo Model HRS Delux Fire Apparatus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>November 1926<\/strong><br \/>\nHowe Reo Fire Engine delivered. Housed in Hillside garage until construction of Firehouse completed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>July 1, 1927<\/strong><br \/>\nMortgaged property to construct 2 bay Fire Station &#8211; mortgage amount $5000.00.<\/p>\n<p><strong>November. 25, 1927 <\/strong><br \/>\nHousing of Engine and original station dedicated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1928 <\/strong><br \/>\nCarnival Car Cost $565.00 &#8211; Fire Department Band formed<\/p>\n<p><strong>September 25, 1929<\/strong><br \/>\nMortgage on Original Station released by Eastern Shore Trust Company.<\/p>\n<p><strong>October 31, 1932<\/strong><br \/>\nFire Department loans Mr. Floyd East $1150.00 to open barber shop on Main Street.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1934<\/strong><br \/>\nSlot machines installed at Carnival.<\/p>\n<p><strong>October. 19, 1936 <\/strong><br \/>\nCemetery property deeded to Sharptown Fire Department by Idaho Tribe 128 Improved Order of Red Men.<\/p>\n<p><strong>May 22, 1937 <\/strong><br \/>\nFire Department purchases Charlie Fletcher farm at public auction for $1500.00, plus paying off debt of $906.45 to Federal Land Bank, and $1800.00 to Federal Mortgage Corporation. This purchased approximately 51 acres.<\/p>\n<p><strong>June 17, 1937<\/strong><br \/>\nFire Department recieves deed to Charlie Fletcher farm from Federal Land Bank.<\/p>\n<p><strong>August 1937<\/strong><br \/>\nFirst Carnival held at Main Street location.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-116\" title=\"carnival37\" src=\"wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/carnival37-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>February 12, 1938<\/strong><br \/>\nPlat filed @ Courthouse for Carnival Property, Approximately 14 acres.<\/p>\n<p><strong>August 1938<\/strong><br \/>\nFire Department raffles 6 automobiles @ Carnival, most raffled in one year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1938<\/strong><br \/>\nAmerican LaFrance Engine purchased<\/p>\n<p><strong>September 19, 1938<\/strong><br \/>\nFire Department purchases 14 acres of land from Walter Mann ( Pickle Plant Property ) which Department still holds partial Title.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ootober 28, 1939<\/strong><br \/>\nRemaining land from Carnival Grounds sold back to Charlie Fletcher &#8211; approximately 37 acres.<\/p>\n<p><strong>October 16, 1940<\/strong><br \/>\nProposal presented to membership to construct a facility to house a garment factory, for a company in Scranton, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p><strong>October 30, 1940<\/strong><br \/>\nMembership mortgages Fire Station and Carnival Grounds with County Trust Company.<\/p>\n<p><strong>December 19, 1940<\/strong><br \/>\nResoloution passed to borrow funds needed to construct a facility on Taylor Street to house a garmnet factory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>January 21, 1941<\/strong><br \/>\nMembership mortgages Walter Mann property to finance construction of garment factory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>July 17, 1941<\/strong><br \/>\nGarment Factory Completed<\/p>\n<p><strong>October 16, 1941<\/strong><br \/>\nGarment Factory rented to Green Star Mfg. The renovations consist of changing the upstairs from one to two rooms.
